It was a great pleasure to learn of President Trump’s intention to nominate Ambassador Mark Green to the position of Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development. At this critical time of humanitarian crises, multi-state conflicts threatening nearly 20 million people with starvation, and continued development challenges and opportunities, Mark Green’s competent and steady leadership at the helm of USAID is welcome news.

U.S. leadership in the world can be most effective only when it includes a comprehensive set of defense, diplomacy and development tools, and with Ambassador Green’s selection, the third leg of the Trump Administration’s foreign policy and national security stool can now be complete. I am hopeful for swift Senate confirmation of Ambassador Green, as much is at stake across the globe that requires the steady hand of U.S. development professionals and leadership.
